Our Services
BMF provides funeral services in coordination with licensed funeral directors for both adults and children, including:
- Immediate emotional and spiritual support to the deceased’s family.
- Guidance in appointing an appropriate registered funeral service.
- Assistance with the prompt release of the body from the hospital, mortuary or elsewhere.
- Extend support for students or those without family in WA as may be required.
- Arrangement of washing (Ghusl), shrouding (Kafan), and Salat-al-Janazah in consultation with the family.
- Burial (Dafn) in a Muslim cemetery based on family preference and availability.
- Encouragement for community participation in Janazah (burial prayers), following the Sunnah for spiritual reward ("Whoever attends the funeral until he offers the prayer will have one qirāṭ, and whoever attends until the burial is completed will have two qirāṭs." It was asked, “What are the two qirāṭs?” The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Like two great mountains.”) - Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim.
- BMF covers the WA standard funeral costs (currently approximately $7,000) for members. Families do not need to pay anything with optional payback (partial or full costs) if they want.
- Administrative support, including assistance in the collection of death certificates.
Governance and Legal Compliance
- Accountable to members and to Allah; decisions made through shura (consultation) as guided in the Qur'an (Surah Ash-Shura, 42:38).
- Annual audits conducted; financial reports shared for transparency.
- BMF would not be accountable for being unable to provide services due to legitimate reasons.
- BMF operates in consultation with local Ulama.
- BMF complies with all relevant Western Australian laws and follows the standard WA government policies for not-for-profit organisations.
Death and Cost Coverage for Members
- Funeral arrangements in Perth Metro: The BMF and the community will be well-informed of the death. BMF will manage all burial arrangements and cover full costs (transport of deceased body, grave cost, kafan, dafan, etc.) for the member's family when notified; they have no obligation to pay.
- Outside WA or unreported deaths: In case of fatalities outside WA or unknown to BMF, families must submit an online claim within 90 days. Verified costs will be reimbursed up to the standard WA funeral amount (currently AUD $7000).
